'Strong case' for public Chief Minister vote - Cannan

Removing Legislative Council members' power to elect future Chief Ministers would make the process more democratic.

That's according to Michael MHK Alfred Cannan, who has gained support to introduce a Bill which would mean only members of the House of Keys can vote on the matter.

Currently both chambers of Tynwald have a say in the election process.

But Mr Cannan said allowing up to a third of the vote to come from publicly unelected members was desirable.
