Cyber security and administration issues proving problematic

The health minister admits his department's transition to telemedicine has not been as smooth as originally hoped.

Using technology to ease the strain on resources has been a strategic aim of the Department of Health and Social Care since 2015.

It was hoped the likes of video conferencing with healthcare professionals around the world would reduce the need for patients traveling off-Island for appointments.

But concerns over cyber security and administration have stalled progress.

David Ashford says the idea is not off the table - but there are hurdles to overcome.
