Misery for record-breaking Harrison
It seemed Kawasaki mounted Dean Harrison had done the necessary damage on lap one of the delayed 6 lap RST Superbike; but a Superbike TT is over six laps.
He blasted the outright lap record apart from a standing start, 134.432 miles an hour, for an eleven second lead over Dunlop, with Cummins third after Peter Hickman retired at the pits.
He built that through the lap two pit stop, 16 seconds ahead of Dunlop with Ramsey's Conor Cummins third. Dunlop nibbled away at that lead down to nine seconds by Glen Helen half way through but on Lap four, at Sulby Crossroads, Harrison retired and Dunlop stormed into the lead ahead of Cummins. He took a fifty seconds advantage into the final lap to win comfortably.
So a sixteenth TT win for Tyco BMW's Michael Dunlop, finishing 50 seconds ahead of Ramsey's Conor Cummins with James Hillier third.
But the headline surely that extraordinary first lap from a disappointed Dean Harrison.
