No problem with Douglas harbour says Packet boss

Damage to Ben could have been worst if tide higher.

The Chief Executive of the Steam Packet Company says there is no safety issue with Douglas harbour.

The vessel collided with the King Edward pier as it tried to dock in higher than forecast winds on Sunday evening.

Speaking on Mandate yesterday morning Marc Woodward said the harbour has a well-dredged depth for the Ben, even in low tides and the damage could have been worst if the tide had been higher.
