Meat plant needs more professional management

The President of the Manx National Farmers Union says the time is right to put the running of the Meat Plant into hands other than those of the farmers.

Brian Brumby's comment follow news that a tender process, designed to find an operator for the facility, had failed to come up with a preferred bidder.

A new business solution is being worked on with a commercial board and improved pricing for farmers.

Mr Brumby says a fresh approach is needed.
