Disagreement over response to Miliband's offshore comments

The Treasury minister says the Manx government deemed it unnecessary to officially respond to the Labour leader's remarks about offshore jurisdictions.

In the House of Keys yesterday, Michael MHK Alf Cannan asked Eddie Teare why there was no formal press release from the Manx government in the wake of Ed Miliband's comments.

Others, such as Jersey and Bermuda, moved swiftly to rebut what he said.

Mr Teare claimed yesterday it was best to not respond like that in this instance.
