Data collection 'unfortunate'

An unfortunate oversight but one which which should be put in perspective.

That's how the chief minister has described the unlawful collection of children's data by government for its centralised pupil database.

Education officials last week apologised for failing to produce the legislation needed to compile such a database.

It was turned off at the end of October.

Allan Bell says it's a mistake from which government must learn.
