Ashford rules out immediate free prescriptions

Move would cost in region of £800,000

The new Health Minister says introducing free prescriptions in the Island would cost his department approaching £800,000.

However, David Ashford admits health chiefs are assessing the possibility.

During a Tynwald debate into the future shape of the Health and Social Care Department, Mr Ashford ruled out 'knee jerk' decisions just eight days after he was appointed.
