Sir Ranulph Fiennes Visits Island

The world's greatest living explorer is visiting the Island today.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes is the guest speaker at a Commonwealth Games Association of the Isle of Man fund-raising dinner at Mount Murray this evening.

Amongst a considerable list of achievements, he is famous for being one of the first two people to reach both poles by surface travel along the polar axis on the Transglobe expedition with Richard Burton.

In 2003, he completed seven marathons in seven days on seven continents, just four months after sufferinga major heart attack and undergoing a double heart by-pass operation.

And this year, at 65 years old, he conquered Mount Everest.
