Rowany player in quarter-finals
Manx golfer Tom Gandy will play in the English Amateur Championship quarter-finals at Ganton on Friday.
Representing his home Rowany Club he qualified for the matchplay stages after finishing tied 10th from 287 players entered with rounds of 73 and 70 earlier this week.
Gandy then won a sudden-death play-off on the 19th hole against Rob MacGregor on Wednesday.
On Thursday he won 3&1 against David Hague and 2&1 against Alfie Plant.
He will play Daniel Brown of Masham Golf Club on Friday morning for a place in the semi-finals later in the day.
Previous winners of the English Amateur include Nick Faldo, Paul Casey, Tommy Fleetwood and Danny Willett.
