Club says Peter 'Jasper' Cain 'will be missed by many people'
Tributes are being paid following the death of Union Mills Football Club President, Peter 'Jasper' Cain.
In a statement, the club says Mr Cain 'passed away last evening in Noble's Hospital.'
It adds details of Mr Cain's funeral will be made in due course, adding he will be 'missed by many people.'
Reference has also been made to Mr Cain's involvement with other Island organisations such as Douglas Lifeboat and the Peveril Motorcycle Club.
Union Mills Football Club's statement in full reads as follows:
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of club President, Peter “Jasper” Cain.
"Both Peter and his late wife Vivienne were long term supporters of the club and attended many functions and hosted the players every Boxing Day for “Hunt the Wren” as well as regularly watching home matches at Garey Mooar.
"Peter passed away last evening in Nobles Hospital.
"Peter was also heavily involved with Peveril Motorcycle Club and Douglas Lifeboat and will be missed by many people in the three organisations he held to his heart as well as many islanders. Another Island Character has sadly gone.
"Details of Peter’s funeral will follow but in the meantime please feel free to share your thoughts below for the benefit of surviving daughters Sarah Fox and Amanda Bowie and the family.
"RIP Jasper Forever a Miller."
