Cycling: Lizzie Holden to join UAE Team ADQ

Manx rider will be part of 16-strong squad for 2023

Top Manx cyclist, Lizzie Holden, is set to link up with one of the major teams in women's professional cycling for 2023.

The 25-year-old is making the transfer to UAE Team ADQ which recently held its training camp in Tuscany, Italy from 9-15 December.

She'll be part of the sixteen-strong squad for the coming year, within which nine different nationalities are represented.

Head of UAE Team ADQ, Melissa Moncada, has stated their athletes will be taking part in the Grand Tour and main Classic races.

2022 has been a big year for Holden who finished 36th in the Tour de France Femmes in late July.

Straight after, she was part of the Isle of Man women's cycling squad for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham - the largest ever female cycling team the Island has put forward.

There she competed in both the women's time trial and road race events, finishing fifth and 19th respectively.

Then in September, Lizzie was one of three Manx cyclists who were selected to represent Great Britain at the UCI Road World Championships in Australia.
