On Air Mannin Line Andy Wint | Noon - 1:00pm

Some roads closed until noon Wednesday at least

A further road condition update has been issued by the Department of Infrastructure this afternoon.

The following roads will remain closed until at least 12 noon tomorrow:

• Mountain Road, Hairpin to Creg-ny-Baa – good progress has been made today, with three gritting teams working, along with a snow blower attachment.

• Beinn-y-Phott – progress has been made using an excavator to remove large quantities of drifting snow, prior to gritting teams treating the area.

• Sulby Glen – progress is being made with an excavator to remove large quantities of drifting snow, prior to gritting teams treating the area.

• Injebreck – further assessment required.

• Brandywell Road – further assessment required.

• Sloc, Round Table area – good progress made between Ronague and the Round Table and the Round Table to Ballamodha, utilising two gritting teams.

Other roads, Little London from Cronk-y-Voddy to Sartfield is now passable with care, deep snow overnight meant the deployment of a tractor fitted with a snow blade to clear the area this morning, the road has also been gritted in order to prevent freezing.

DoI staff are today concentrating their efforts on the high level routes, however there are substantial amounts of snow in a number of these locations, which has meant deploying snow blowing equipment and excavators in conjunction with gritting teams/equipment.

A further assessment of road conditions will be carried out tomorrow morning, and efforts will continue to open these roads to members of the public as quickly as possible.

The DoI is again thanking the public for their continued patience.
