Say no to DPA

Local companies who receive correspondence from UK firm DPA Registrations, should ignore it.

The Office of Fair Trading says DPA contacted an Island-based firm telling them their data protection registration was overdue and they could be fined £5000 if it wasn't completed.

DPA then offered to to administer the registration process for them for £110.

However, the OFT says no local company needs to use this service.

If you need to notify under the Data Protection Act in the Isle of Man the fee is £40 and correspondence will only be sent from the Office of the Data Protection Supervisor.

If you need any further advice, contact the Supervisor's Office on 693260.
