Regulations needed for industrial hemp production

Health Minister insists crops would need to be protected

Regulations will be needed to protect crops if farmers are to grow industrial hemp on the Isle of Man, according to the Health Minister.

More than 1,000 people responded to a recent consultation on the potential of licensing the crop for industrial use, with 97% of respondents in favour.

Industrial hemp can be used in a range of ways, including to make clothes and as a building material.
