Parents asked to help reduce spread of vomiting bug
Parents at a primary school in Peel are being asked for support in reducing the spread of norovirus.
Public Health has written to people with children at Peel Clothworkers saying the diarrhoea and vomiting bug is ‘circulating at the school’.
It's providing staff with advice on managing the outbreak which includes increased cleaning throughout the educational facility.
Symptoms also include abdominal cramps, headache and fever but usually resolve themselves within 24 to 48 hours.
Anyone with the illness is being asked to stay at home until 48 hours after their symptoms have ended.
Parents have also been asked to stop their children mixing with others outside the home and to stay away from public venues during this period.
The letter - from the Interim Deputy Director of Public Health Dr Oluwatoyin Amusan - was sent out by the school yesterday (16 July).
