'No meeting' between DoI and Unite on bus strike

The Trades Union Council says there were no talks between the two parties yesterday

An organisation representing the Island's unions says proposed talks between Unite the Union and the Department of Infrastructure on the bus drivers' dispute didn't take place yesterday.

Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall told Tynwald on Tuesday that a meeting through the Manx Industrial Relations Service was planned for Wednesday.

The Isle of Man Trades Union Council said in a post on social media that that meeting didn't happen, and instead the two parties were in separate rooms with no agreement reached.

The statement also says Saturday's proposed strike action still stands, with no agreement to scale down the industrial action or pause the walkout.

The TUC adds that if the department wants to avoid strike action on Saturday, the answer is to put a credible offer on the table.

The Department of Infrastructure has been approached for an update.
