New book from Salvation Army

A new book gives an insight into the work of the Salvation Army in the Isle of Man, during the past 60 years or so.

'Education, Salvation and Damnation' has been published to mark the hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary of the organisation in the Island, and has contributions from about 20 members.

It also contains a number of photographs, dating back to the 1930s, a list of the 95 commanding officers in the Island since June 1883, and a glossary of useful terms.

The title came from a story told by retired bandmaster Gordon Cowley, as Corps Officer Major Nigel Collins explains:
