Moorhouse doesn't think issues are being elevated to Post Office management
An MHK has told Manx Radio he has ‘major concerns’ about what’s happening with postal deliveries on the Isle of Man.
Arbory Castletown and Malew’s Jason Moorhouse tackled the issue in the House of Keys this week.
In the last political sitting before the summer break, MHKs quizzed the chair of the Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) – Middle MHK Stu Peters – about the delivery, or non-delivery, of mail.
They included Onchan’s Rob Callister who claimed, after concerned constituents put the issue on his radar, he’d tried it out for himself:
Mr Peters maintained that each postal duty around the Island is prioritised ‘equally’ and said the number of complaints received had been ‘fairly low’.
He claimed it could just be a ‘social media phenomenon’ but, when pressed, admitted he reports back from the board and not from the postmen and women with boots on the ground.
That was something that didn’t impress original questioner Mr Moorhouse:
Commenting on a post on Manx Radio's Facebook page, Mr Peters promised he will raise these issues at the next board meeting tomorrow (Thursday 25 July).
He believes most problems with post being late from off Island won't be down to the IOMPO, but says he's very concerned about stories that local post is taking 'days'.
He's urging anyone experiencing problems to contact the Post Office directly because Facebook 'isn't a reliable way to communicate'.
Anyone who does want to complain about the timeliness of their mail has been asked to contact Customer Services at the Isle of Man Post Office by emailing customer.services@iompost.com or clicking HERE.
