Island's new attorney general sworn-in

Walter Wannenburgh will act as legal advisor to government

The Isle of Man's new attorney general has been sworn-in to office.

Walter Wannenburgh will act as the legal adviser to the Lieutenant Governor, the Council of Ministers, government departments and statutory boards.

He'll provide guidance on matters of law and issues relating to the Isle of Man's domestic and external interests as well as attending sittings of Tynwald and the Legislative Council.

Mr Wannenburgh has held the attorney general role in an acting capacity following the death of the former post holder John Quinn.

Meanwhile Anthony Cross KC is the Isle of Man's new Judge of Appeal.

He was appointed by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in August to act as a Judge of the High Court.

He'll preside over the Appeal Division for five years.
