Data sharing and legal framework needed first
Means testing for public sector housing tenants could be introduced on the Island - but only if there's the political will.
That's according to DOI Minister Ray Harmer, who was speaking after it was announced that public sector rents will rise by two per cent in the next financial year.
The hike, which comes into effect in April, follows consultation with 15 local housing authorities in the Island.
Mr Harmer has described the increase as 'modest and as fair as possible' without means-testing in place.
He believes it will be some time before the position changes.
