Housing and Communities Board says finding new operator has been difficult
Reintroducing a service to support those tackling homelessness on the Isle of Man has been delayed.
The Housing and Communities Board says identifying a third sector organisation or private provider to take over from Graih has proved 'challenging'.
Graih closed down at the end of last month - ending its operation of an emergency night shelter and the support it provided to those using the facility.
Broadway Baptist Church is continuing to run its day care centre six days a week but the housing board says finding staff who are trained and confident in supporting the vulnerable people who use the shelter has been difficult.
It goes on to say the housing provided at the church is not ideal and that a new shelter would need to include camping style beds, bedding and kitchen and laundry facilities.
The board has confirmed it's accelerating its plan to commission a long-term emergency shelter service in case an interim solution can't be found.
£119,000 has been put aside to ensure the night service can continue into 2023.
