Almost £64,000 paid out due to pothole damage

MHK calls for more to be done to repair roads

Almost £64,000 has been paid out by the Isle of Man Government's public liability insurance to fix cars damaged by potholes.

The figures, published following a request from Garff MHK Daphne Caine, show claims totalling between £10,000 and £19,000 each year have been made over the last five years.

The public can report potholes, via the Report A Problem website, with the Department of Infrastructure estimating in 2018 that fixing each pothole costs around £48.

Mrs Caine wants more to be done to repair the roads rather than waiting for damage to be caused:
