Airport working to ensure passengers with disabilities are treated with 'dignity'

Follows concerns that flights are being delayed due to lack of resource

Staff at the Isle of Man Airport say they’re working to ensure all passengers with seen – and unseen – disabilities are treated with ‘dignity and respect’.

It follows concerns that flights are being delayed due to the availability of ambulift services at Ronaldsway.

The issue was raised with Manx Radio by a listener who said a flight to Liverpool on Monday was delayed because his wife, who’s in a wheelchair after a hip operation, had to wait for assistance.

Kevin said he believes it’s due to a lack of resource:

The team at the Isle of Man Airport has told Manx Radio it was ‘very disappointed’ to hear this report and its looking into the circumstances of what happened.

A spokesperson says the team is working with the Passenger Accessibility Group to ensure that all passengers with seen and unseen disabilities are treated with dignity and respect.

Passengers with disabilities are being invited to provide feedback – or discuss their concerns prior to flying – by emailing admin.airport@gov.im.
