TT blockbuster attracts unwanted attention

TT3D: Closer to the Edge may be one of the Island's biggest-selling movies ever, but it's also proving popular with internet pirates.

Since the film launched on Blu-ray and DVD at the end of last month, it's gone on to sell more than 100,000 copies.

But that popularity has also brought it to the attention of online pirates, who have copied both the Blu-ray and DVD versions, and are offering them for free download.

So far, eight different versions of the film can be found on the web's largest download site.

In total, 425 people are involved in offering the film through BitTorrent, both in high-definition and low quality.

The most popular download is offered by a piracy group which has its own website offering hundreds of illegal films.

However, so far nobody has uploaded an illegal copy of the TT3D in 3D, which is one of its biggest selling points.

Because no records are kept of how many people have downloaded the movie rather than buying a legal copy, it's impossible to say how much the internet piracy has cost producers CinemaNX.
