Education

Funding for education is planned to increase by £4.4 million this financial year.

It means the Department of Education, Sport and Culture’s total budget is now £153,967,000

The increase includes an additional £2 million being made available to maintain replace building property.

Capital Projects

More than £2.6m will be spent over three years upgrading and modernising facilities at the National Sports Centre. The running track (£900k), all-weather pitch at The Bowl (£850k) and mechanical and electrical systems in the main building (£880k) will all see investment for use by our community year-round and in preparation for hosting the 2029 Island Games.

If you’re wondering whether there’ll be more funding for ongoing projects like the new Castle Rushen High School or the STEM Block at Queen Elizabeth II High School, we don’t know because it doesn’t look like any funding is being allocated this financial year.
