Middle MHK seeks clarity over government proposals

An MHK says a full public debate is needed over changes to the Island's planning system to ensure questions don't go unanswered.

The Cabinet Office is proposing a raft of measures designed to improve the planning process, such as new national policy directives which could be used to override existing area plans.

Other measures include potential for a community infrastructure levy, and reduced bureaucracy.

Middle MHK Bill Shimmins is broadly supportive of the changes but says he wants government to offer more clarity over the proposals.
