Akkie van den Berg of Peel and St John's Cricket Club has been named as the fourth and final Standard Bank Player of the Month for the 2013 season.
This is the fourth year in which individuals who make an outstanding contribution in a match or who display a consistently high level of performance, had the opportunity to be recognised.
Players are nominated by the Isle of Man Cricket Association (IOMCA).
The judging panel includes Chris Till, of Standard Bank, Andy Dalrymple of Isle of Man Newspapers and Gareth Dawson, the IOMCA Development Officer.
Nominations for the period running to the end of the season included: Alex Stokoe, Ollie Webster, Danny Kniveton, Wicus Wessels, and Andy Ronan.
Chris Till, Head: Technical Banking of Standard Bank, commenting on the announcement said: “We have seen some excellent nominations this year, and our final choice was no exception.
"We had a tough decision but in the end the Panel decided on Akkie following his excellent performances throughout the month.
"These included a 50 not out and some strong bowling performances, including 4 for 12 against Ramsey, 3 for 22 against Valkyres in the Standard Bank Premiership and 15 wickets at an average of only 11.7 with a strike rate of a wicket every 16 balls across all competitions.”
