Three in a row for Bacchas

Bacchas A are champions for a third successive year.

A goalless draw in the winner-takes-all showdown with arch rivals Valkyrs A means they have won the Wi-Manx Men’s Premier Division title on goal difference.

The dominant forces in Manx hockey were evenly matched - as they have been all season - but the deadlock was not broken leaving Bacchas as champions.

The two sides meet again in next week’s Manx Hockey Cup Final.

There was double disappointment for Valkyrs as their B side were relegated.

Vikings B stayed up at their expense after a 5-0 triumph, thanks to strikes from Adam Braidwood (two), Steve Underwood (two) and Ian Perry.

Castletown A and Bacchas B ended the season by sharing the spoils in a six goal contest.

Christian Steriopolous, Steven Ronan and Sven Lindeque scored for Town with Richard Le Page, Tony Bentley-Roberts and Chris Bass replying for Bacchas B.

Vikings A finished a disappointing season for them on a high.

Johnny Killey and Andy Harding both scored twice in a 4-1 win over Ramsey A, whose goal was scored by Matt Grice.

Vikings A completed a 100 per cent season in the Wi-Manx Women’s Premier Division.

The champions rounded off a dominant league campaign with a 7-0 rout against Castletown.

Kim Carney was the star of the show as her four goal haul also secured the top scorer accolade.
Louise Slater, Zoe Carney and Katie Errock netted the others.

Sam Franklin fired Bacchas A to the runners-up spot as she scored twice in a 2-1 win over Valkyrs A, who they leapfrog as a result.

The Valkyrs goal came from the stick of Andrea Kneen.

An Alice Bowen hat-trick and goals from Niamh Goddard and Faye Wilcox gave Bacchas B a 5-3 win over Castletown B.

Lauren Jones, Hazel Knowles and Rebecca Jacobs were on target for the southerners.

Christina Kermeen (two), Ellen Robinson and Alex Callow scored the goals as Ramsey A defeated Valkyrs B 4-0 in the other game.
