Superb Moore sparks superb comeback

Substitute Karl Moore was the hero as champions Bacchas A moved closer to retaining the men’s Division One title on Saturday.

He came off the bench and hit a hat-trick as Bacchas defeated Vikings A 4-2 in the top of the table clash.

And it was an amazing comeback as Bacchas scored three times in the last 10 minutes to overturn a 2-1 deficit!

Jamie Brown grabbed the other as Bacchas extended their lead at the top of the table to five points.

Paul Kelly and Dave Millward scored for Vikings, who can take much credit from their performance, although the result will make that scant consolation.

And Bacchas are now even more in the driving seat as Valkyrs A were held to a draw by Ramsey A.

Dan Stevenson and Andy Burrows were on target for Ramsey as they again showed their continued improvement at the top end of Manx hockey.

Sympathy of the day goes to Steve Cottier who hit four but ended up on the losing side as Saracens were beaten 5-4 by Bacchas B.

And all this, after Saracens had battled superbly having to play the match with only nine players!

Vikings B pulled off a fine 2-1 win over Castletown A - Christian Forbes and Ian Perry were the scorers with Will Higgins the Town marksman.

In women’s Division One, leaders Vikings A were awarded the points after opponents Phoenix were unable to field a team.

And a goal from Cat Lace kept champions Bacchas A on their heels in the match of the day against Casletown.

Ali Breen scored twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Julie Chesterton, Lucy Kinrade and Philippa Wood as Ramsey A saw off Valkyrs B 5-0, while an Andrea Kneen hat-trick, a double from Leanne Brew and one from Emma Faulkner secured Valkyrs A a 6-0 win over Harlequins.
