St John's return to the top

St John’s are back on top of the Standard Bank Premiership after they beat Ramsey at Mullen-e-Cloie yesterday.

Batting first the Saints were in a strong position at 199-1, thanks to an aggressive 90 from Daniel Dickinson.

Ramsey fought back and took the next eight wickets for just 66 runs.

Akkie van den Berg then ripped through the northern batting with a superb spell of bowling, taking 6-28 as the northerners were dismissed for 76.

James Arneil was top scorer with 18.

The Castletown batsmen had a field day against Cronkbourne.

They made 355-2 with Travis Friend scoring 125, John Short 88, Wicus Wessells 71 and Mark Williams 52.

Cronkbourne made a valiant effort to chase the runs, but were dismissed for 236.

Valkyres won their first Premiership match of the season when they defeated Crosby by 110 runs.

The southerners scored 225, thanks to 54 from Shahzeb Raja and 50 by Aurangzeb Ghausi.

In reply the Marown team made 115 – Ross Berry hit 28 and Tom Reader took 3-20.

This afternoon the Standard Bank Tinker Cup Final between Castletown and Ramsey will be played at Tromode.
