St George's hit Saints for six!

Two games in and the reigning champions St George’s showed their pedigree in style on Saturday.

They thrashed St Mary’s 6-0 at Glencrutchery Road to underline yet again why they’re the team to beat in Manx football.

A close first half turned into a one-sided second period as young talent Connor Doyle netted twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Chris Feeney, Neil Brogan, James McStay and an own goal.

The result stunned the Saints who’d defeated Laxey in their opening match.

Laxey, meanwhile, bounced back well with a 2-0 home victory over Peel.

A goal in each half from Jim Travers and a Lee Cowley penalty sealed the points and a fine home win.

Rushen made it two wins out of two after Neil Curphey and Aaron Hawley scored the goals to see off Ayre United.

Phil Quayle was the scorer for the northerners who again battled well but were pipped by one goal.

Union Mills also made it two out of two with Steven Quine, Chris Kelly, Gareth Logan, Sam Caine and Matty Cain the scorers in a 5-2 win at Corinthians, for whom Rob Jones and Steve Glover found the net.

Newly promoted Colby registered their first victory in the Sure Mobile Premier League with what could be an important 2-1 success at Ramsey.

James Collett and Chris McLever were their scorers with Steve Cleator on target for Ramsey.

Dean France was the star as Old Boys won a goal-fest at Tromode.

He hit four as they romped to an 8-3 win at Gymns.

Gary Quirk hit two, Robbie Ward netted a penalty and Jamie Skillen grabbed the other as the surprise package of last season showed their threat again.

Ciaran McNulty was among the scorers for Gymns who contributed to an exciting game.
