Special event to mark 100 years of sidecars at TT

Three most successful drivers will take part in commemorative lap

A special event will take place during this year's Isle of Man TT Races to mark the centenary of sidecar racing on the Snaefell Mountain Course.

The three most successful sidecar drivers and their passengers will take part in a commemorative demonstration lap around the course on Saturday, 10 June ahead of the 2023 Senior TT race.

This year will mark 100 years since the three-wheeled machines first competed at the event.

Taking part in the lap will be 17-time winner Dave Molyneux and his passenger, eight-time winner Dan Sayle; The current sidecar champions, 12-time winners Ben and Tom Birchall and 10-time winner Cumbrian racer Rob Fisher and his passenger, Sarah Stokoe.

Between them, the three drivers have amassed a total of 39 sidecar TT victories over the years.

In terms of the machines, Molyneux will pilot the 750cc Bregazzi Yamaha he took his first TT win on in 1989; the Birchalls will ride their current LCR Honda machine whilst Fisher and Stokoe will be on board Fisher's 1996 Baker Yamaha.

The 2023 Isle of Man TT Races are scheduled to take place from Monday, 29 May to Saturday, 10 June.
