Rushen triumph in Old Firm clash

Douglas Athletic maintain 100% start

A goal either side of half-time gave Rushen the victory in last night's Old Firm clash with Peel.

Jack Saxon netted a minute before the break before Mikey Williams sealed the points three minutes into the second period.

Douglas Athletic remain top of the Canada Life Premier League after maintaining their 100 per cent start to the season with a 6-2 win away at Laxey.

Mark Wolfenden had plenty of joy in front of goal as he scored four, with Mikey Callister bagging a brace.

In reply, Michael Fernandes and Joe Walters found the net for Laxey.

It was a bad night for Corinthians as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat to St Mary's at Ballafletcher.

Sean Doyle had put the hosts ahead before Jack McVey, Frank Jones and Craig Murphy put St Mary's in the driving seat.

Stephen Whitley gave Corinthians a lifeline by making it 3-2 but that's how the score stayed.

In the night's other games, Old Boys picked up their first win of the season beating Douglas Royal 6-2 away while St John's beat Castletown 2-1.
