Rushen too strong for Old Boys

Crawley hat-trick hero for Town

Rushen United cemented third place in the Canada Life Premier League with a convincing home win over Old Boys on Saturday.

Matty Cain gave the southerners an interval lead and Liam Cowin’s first goal for his new club, plus a further strike from Furo Davies and header from Chris Shimmin, fired them to a 4-1 success.

Josh Thomas netted the consolation for the battling visitors who failed to make the most of their chances.

That was the sole top flight game to survive the weather and the two in JCK Division Two were also top end of the table affairs.

Alex Crawley was the star for Castletown with a hat-trick as they won the southern derby.

Their 3-0 triumph at Colby moved Town level with Gymns in second place.

Elsewhere, runaway leaders Douglas Athletic hit six past Douglas and District.

A hat-trick from Mark Wolfenden, two from the in-form Connor Dowell and one from Lee Ford secured a 6-1 victory.

Daniel Kinley netted the solitary D&D goal.
