Douglas lost 37-20 away at fellow promotion hopefuls Birkenhead Park and slipped to fifth place in the North One West standings. They have just six fixtures remaining to try and get the wheels back on the wagon. Two of those games are away from home against second-placed Blackburn and third-placed Northwich, though, both of which will be tall orders.

Ramsey beat Prenton to maintain big lead

Ramsey beat Prenton 60-0 on the road to maintain a 20-point gap at the top of Lancs/Cheshire Three. Three tries from Mikey Craine. plus one each from Daniel Bonwick and Henry Swithinbank and four conversions from Fintan Cummins saw Ramsey lead 33-0 at the break. In the second half Bonwick added two more for his fifth hat-trick of the season, and there were also scores from Scott Kneale, Adam Dunlop and Jamie Arneil, with Scott Kneale kicking one conversion.

Southern Nomads move closer to Shimmin Wilson title

PDMS Southern Nomads beat Emerging Nomads 65-24 at King William's College and took one step closer to another Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield. Nomads have three matches remaining and need two wins to be confirmed as champions. Elliott Callow and Rob Keelan both ran in hat-tricks for Southern, Jacob Holstein got two and there were also scores from Jack Sleight, Josh Smith and Ethan McNaught. Mark Young added ten conversions. Jack Sleight changed sides and also scored for Emerging Nomads, with their other tries coming from Josh Samuels, Orry Watterson and Steve McHugh and Ari Brooks-Lund kicked two conversions.

Douglas Celts remained hot on Nomads' heels when they beat Vagabonds B at Ballafletcher 43-7. Tries from Carl Conroy, Chris Bollen and Owen Carvin plus two Conroy conversions saw Douglas lead 19-0 at half-time. In the second half Carvin grabbed two more to complete his hat-trick and there were also tries from Andrew Colley and Rob Todd, with Conroy converting two. Vagas battled hard in the second half, however, and thoroughly deserved their consolation try, which was scored by Ryan de la Harpe and converted by Tom Rowley.
