Island side could move into top five with maximum points

Douglas head for Widnes this week in Regional 2 North West and are looking for their first away win of the 24/24 campaign.

They lost narrowly 13-15 in week one at Port-e-Chee and statistically there’s not really that much between them.

They’re separated by five points in the standings - Widnes have won six from ten, with Douglas the mirror opposite losing six from ten.

Douglas however have a better attack and have picked up a few more bonus points, It looks unlikely that either club will catch the breakaway three at the top of the standings but a fourth-place finish would be a big boost for Douglas.

There was a strong side heading away to Winnington Park last week only to be thwarted by Storm Darragh.

Luckily, most are likely to be available again this week with the added great news that Liam Kirkpatrick is fit and should take up his position in a back row which is bristling with intent.

There’ll be no Bryn Snellgrove at ten, but Douglas have the option of Nathan Robson with either Kyle Martin or Brendan Kelly covering at nine, or perhaps leave Robson at nine and bring in James Ross to cover ten.

Whatever the final call, this is a team capable of bringing home the bacon.
