Top Island athletes Harriet Pryke and Hannah Riley both produced new Isle of Man record performances at last weekend's English Senior Track & Field Championships in Bedford.
In far from summer conditions, Harriet was first in action on Saturday, cruising to a comfortable 55.30 third place in heat two of the 400m.
Winner of the heat was Olympic, Commonwealth, European and World GB athlete Nicola Sanders in a time of 53.69.
However, Nicola failed to show for the final on Sunday, in which Harriet finished sixth, in a new personal best and Manx record time of 54.70.
Harriet will be competing in Birmingham over the next two weekends - the Birmingham Games on Saturday 23rd, followed by the UK T&F Trials and Championships on Friday 29th July.
On Sunday Hannah Riley had a great run in the women's 100m hurdles heat one, finishing in fourth place in a new personal best and Manx record time of 14.50, to earn a place in the final later in the day, where unfortunately she did not finish.
Hannah's Island Games rival Kylie Robilliard from Guernsey, who was not able to snatch the gold from Hannah in the Isle of Wight, finished fourth in the final in 13.49.
Hannah's brother Tom Riley also competed on Sunday in the men's 110m hurdles where his time of 15.42 was just outside the qualifiers for the final.
It was an encouraging performance in his first season at the discipline, having previously over over the flat at 100 and 200m.
