Ramsey Roadrunners lift Tuftex Trophy

Ramsey Roadrunners are celebrating after winning the all-northern Tuftex Trophy final.

They justified their favourites tag but were pushed all the way before defeating Ramsey Rookies 4-3 in sudden death penalty flicks.

Roadrunners shaded the first half but Rookies hit back in the second half through an inspired substitution from player-manager Dan Stevenson.

He brought himself on and promptly struck a double before Roadrunners levelled to force the shoot-out in which they triumphed.

When Roadrunners were celebrating northern pride, Bacchas A’s bid for a league and cup double moved a step nearer.

They thrashed minnows Ramsey Ravens 13-0 to set up a cup final showdown with Falcons in the New Year.

Goals from Glen Bloxham-Mundy (four), Richard Le Page (three), Karl Moore (two), Jackie Brown (two), Louise Corkill and Sharron Pope ensured a Bacchas’ rout.

Bacchas need one more victory to capture the Division One title.
