Ramsey B rock Manx Shield

Ramsey B pulled off the result of the season so far when they beat Southern Nomads 33-14 at King Williams College in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.

Craig Long put the northerners ahead just before half time and Darren Ideson’s conversion made it 7-0 at the break.

Nomads hit back early in the second half with an Andy Lean try, converted by Dave Edge, to level the score.

However, from then on it was all Ramsey B.

Chris King intercepted to score under the posts and Darren Ideson turned that into a seven pointer before bagging two tries of his own to round off the day.

Player/coach Gareth Hinge iced the cake with a late try – again converted by the unstoppable Ideson - to make it 33-7.

Jimmy Cubbon had the last word for Nomads with a late consolation try which Dave Edge converted to leave the final score 14-33.

At Poulsom Park, Castletown won the basement battle with Emerging Nomads 11-10.

Mike Van-Wyk crossed early on to give Town a 5-0 lead, which they held for much of the game.

Prop forward Adam Jones barged over for Nomads to make it 5-5 before two second half penalties from Gary Stephenson pushed Town ahead 11-5.

A late try from Nomads’ Mike Davies brought them to within a point but the conversion didn’t make it and Nomads were eventually beaten by the watch.

In the final game of the afternoon, a spirited Western Vikings lost out 58-12 to Vagabonds B
