Races curtailed in Pre-TT Classic

Evening session hampered by rain

The weather turned out to be the biggest factor as the evening session got underway at the Colas Billown Circuit today (27 May).

Red flags curtailed racing as rain set in around the track.

850cc Classic

Steven Ferguson led the way in the AD Hewett Dental Practice 850cc Classic.

By the halfway stage he was 19 seconds ahead of Bob Owen, increasing his lead to 26.8 seconds by the start of the final lap.

Dave Matravers took a close third place to complete the podium line-up.

Superbike Race

Michael Evans was declared winner of the 4 Hire Superbike Race, after the weather closed in leading to a red flag on the fourth of the eight lap race.

An early challenge by Jamie Coward was cut short by his retirement on lap one.

And it was Peter Boast who took second, while Mike Hose secured third.

Junior Race

After a red flag incident marred the original start of the race, the rescheduled Friends Provident International Junior Race got off to a flying start with less than a second separating the top four at the end of lap one.

It was Dominic Herbertson in the lead at the halfway stage at the end of lap four, before Alan Oversby passed him on lap five.

But the race was curtailed as the rain continued to fall, with the result declared as the standings at the end of the fourth lap - Herbertson followed by Oversby, with Steve Ferguson taking third position.

Sidecar Open Final

Eddy Wright and Keiran Clarke made it a hatrick in the final race of the day, the Sidecar Open Final, which took place in wet conditions.

They managed to overtake Keith Walters and Alun Thomas, who had been in the lead for the first two laps.

Andy Nourish and Michiel Leeflang completed the top three.
