Police savour top spot

They were rock bottom last year but the Police moved to the top of JCK Division Two on Saturday.

They were pushed hard by neighbours Douglas and District but goals from new signing Craig Cowin and Carl Breadner fired them to the top in a 2-1 win.

With previous leaders St John’s not in action, Pulrose also had the chance to move top but were beaten 3-0 at home by an ever-improving Ramsey Youth Centre.

Martin Murphy hit a double and Mark Faragher grabbed the other in an impressive victory.

Colby won the southern derby in style – hitting seven without reply against Malew.

Marty Moore hit FOUR with Matty Wilshaw, Chris McKenna and Jon Corke also finding the net.

Marown also had bragging rights out west as they saw off Foxdale 3-1.

It was a case of the new signings doing the business as Richard Mulhearn hit two and Juan Killip – returning to Marown after a spell at Peel – slotted home a penalty.

Gavin McLaughlin scored for Foxdale.

AJ Suckling was the match winner as Union Mills notched an important three points in a 1-0 victory at Onchan.

Braddan hit six at Ronaldsway who look set for a struggle this season.

Mike Shaw (two), Geoff Murphy (two), David Kinrade and James Murphy were on target in a 6-1 win.

The Rockets, for whom Dwayne Dawson scored, had only trailed 1-0 at the break.
