Palmer shoots up Duke rankings

A win and a second place at the Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic races have elevated Chris Palmer to eighth place in the Duke Road Race Rankings from 27th.

Fellow Manxman Allan Brew also elevated himself 25 places to 13th after gaining a third and two fourth places during the meeting.

In all 11 riders joined the listings after this immensely popular event which brings the annual TT Festival to life.

Highest to enter the rankings was Wirral man Mike Hose, who had a tremendous day with a win in the Junior 350cc race, a second and two third places, placing him in tenth position in the table.

One place down Alan Oversby also enjoyed his time round the 4.25-mile closed public roads course, with two victories and a new lap record to his credit.

His first win was on the fabulous sounding 500cc MV Agusta in the Senior race and he followed that by taking the chequered flag in the 850 class on his 500 Craven Norton, setting a new lap record at 94.880mph in the process.

However the biggest applause of the meeting was reserved for Ted Fenwick, a spritely 82-year-old who took the 250cc Singles race win after finishing second in 2009 and 2008, having won the race for the first time back in 2003.

Add to that an eighth place in the Lightweight race, which puts the Yorkshireman in 18th position in the rankings.
