'Operational change' after MGP red flag error

Organisers reassure competitors and spectators

Changes have been implemented by Manx Grand Prix organisers to make sure red flags aren't displayed in error during practice and racing.

It follows Sunday's practice session where a red flag was waved by mistake at Creg-ny-Baa.

A statement from Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson says during the session on Sunday Race Control became aware that a red flag had been displayed in error.

He wants to reassure competitors and spectators that, once aware, race control was in direct communication with the marshals there to resolve the issue.

Yellow flags were displayed at Keppel Gate, Kate’s Cottage and the Creg ny Baa to slow riders down on the approach to the Creg and to allow any stopped riders to safely restart on the TT Course.
Once the qualifying session was finished there was an immediate investigation carried out which has resulted in the implementation of an operational change which has been made in collaboration with the TT Marshals Association and should actively prevent any similar issues arising.
