There were no shocks in the JCK Junior Cup quarter-finals on Saturday as Old Boys kept alive their hopes of a league and cup double.
In a heated contest in which they finished the match with nine men, the Combination One champions overcame the stern challenge of Rushen 2-0 at Blackberry Lane, courtesy of goals from substitute Matthew Quilliam and Lee Ford to book a semi-final against St George’s.
That’s after they had too much for Ayre at Andreas.
A strong Geordies line-up triumphed 6-1, thanks to goals from Nick Bass, Lee Gartland, Connor Dowell (two) and Danny Oram (two).
Juan Watney netted for Ayre.
Combination One league runners-up Peel thrashed St Mary’s 5-0.
A double from Niall Quayle, a Chris Looney penalty and goals from Alex Cowley and player-manager Steve Corkill secured a home semi-final and a western derby against Marown.
The all-Combination Two clash went Marown’s way as they were 4-1 home winners over Onchan.
Paul Postlewaite, Stephen Hinds (two) and David Brew meant Fletcher Craine’s reply was a consolation.
