Charity aims to help with costs around taking part
A new Island initiative has launched aiming to allow young people to pursue their passions and build their life skills through sport.
PlayMaker.im looks to help remove financial constraints which might stop children taking part in a particular sport such as expenses around travel and equipment.
Currently in its early stages, the charity is now inviting donations of cash, kit and/or equipment and will also welcome sponsorship from other organisations.
It's hoping to assist those looking to get into a wide variety of disciplines either competitively or socially, ranging from archery to BMX; lawn Bowls to fencing and skateboarding to weightlifting.
PlayMaker.im chairperson Rebekah Dalrymple says sport provides benefits beyond the physical for young people's lives, adding their focus is not on performance but simply giving people the opportunity to try things out:
