Mixed fortunes for McCanney brothers in Chile

Manx duo David Knight and Daniel McCanney produced good showings in the opening round of the World Enduro Championship in Chile over the weekend.

Former champion Knight made the best of dry and dusty terrain to finish in fourth place on day one before fighting back to secure the runners-up spot behind Christopher Nambotin.

Meanwhile, McCanney finished an impressive second in the Enduro Junior class.

He then took third place on day two.

There was a cruel blow for Jamie McCanney who was involved in a freak accident.

He broke his wrist and sustained a hairline fracture of his shoulder after hitting a stray dog.

He is in good spirits in a hospital after a small operation.

At the time of the accident in the opening race of the 125 Youth Cup, McCanney looked all but certain of victory.

Another Manxie, Alex Rockwell, finished 10th on day two of the event.

The Championship continues with the GP of Argentina this weekend.
