Record TT win holder to use BMW and Ducati machinery

Michael Dunlop has revealed what machinery he'll compete on at this year's Isle of Man TT Races.

Dunlop - who became the most successful TT rider of all time last year moving onto 29 victories - will run BMW power in the 1000cc classes and is making the switch to Ducati for the Supersport category.

The 36-year-old will run BMW M1000RR machines supported by Hawk Racing for the Superbike and Senior races whilst using his own MD Racing BMW in the Superstock class.

His choice of a Ducati Panigale V2 in the Supersport races follows on from the Ballymoney man using that same machine to secure a top-ten finish at the Daytona 200 event in the USA in March.

Speaking on his latest plans, Michael says: "I’m delighted to be involved with MILWAUKEE® again, it’s been a long time but something I am very excited about and looking forward to a strong season on board the MILWAUKEE® Ducati V2.

"They have given me a great opportunity to have a strong season and it’s a new challenge I’m eagerly awaiting."

Last year Michael Dunlop made TT history taking four victories to surpass the previous all-time wins record of 26 which had been held by his uncle Joey Dunlop since 2000.

Elsewhere, despite missing out on a podium place in the Superbike TT he set a new Superbike lap record in 2024 of 135.970mph.

He last campaigned BMW machinery on the Snaefell Mountain Course six years ago and before that in 2014 he claimed wins in both the Senior and Superbike races with Hawk Racing whilst enjoying full factory support from the German manufacturer.

Two years after that he managed the same double of victories again - in the Superbike race that year he became the first rider to lap the mountain course in under 17 minutes.

Meanwhile, the only other rider besides Dunlop to have used the Ducati Panigale V2 in the Supersport class was Davey Todd last year where he finished second and third across the two Supersport races.
