McGuinness grateful for support

Missing TT will hurt

23-time TT winner John McGuinness says he's been overwhelmed by the support and well wishes he's received since his accident at the North West 200 a week ago.

In a press release issued by Honda Racing, he thanks race fans, industry people, the medical teams and fellow racers for all the messages.

There is also an update on his condition at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Tim Glover reports:-

McGuinness is still waiting for a fixator to be fitted to his injured leg as the medics don't want to run the risk of infection - and he describes the recovery process as "day-by-day" and "a long road ahead".

He says missing the TT this year is going to "hurt" but he will be "watching and keeping an eye on everything!"

McGuinness says if he is able to make it over to the Island he will do but he has to be patient and take each day as it comes.

And he wishes all his fellow competitors good luck over the fortnight.
