It's Geordies v Saints!

St Mary’s and St George’s clinch final spot

It will be an All-Saints Day at the Bowl on Boxing Day.

That’s after St Mary’s and St George’s won in the Cu-Plas Railway Cup semi-finals on Saturday.

Holders St George’s saw off arch-rivals Peel 1-0 in their last four tie at Colby, courtesy of a second half Jack McVey goal.

In a tight game, it was the Geordies’ third victory over the westerners so far this season.

Steven Priestnal was the hero at the Bowl with a double as St Mary’s edged out Corinthians in a five goal thriller.

His second half double fired the Saints to a 3-2 success, after Tony Cain had given the hosts an interval lead.

Josh Ridings briefly brought the Whites level in the second half but their first appearance in the competition since 1980 ended in defeat, despite Steve Corlett reducing the arrears in the final minute.

The match was preceded by a minute’s applause in memory of former St Mary’s player and manager Sam Kenny who passed away earlier this week.

Kenny guided the Saints to the FA Cup in 2013 – the last time they won a trophy.
